WorkBC Program Promotion Specialist

About the Role:
Are you passionate about community building and helping others connect with services? We’re looking for an enthusiastic, outgoing, and knowledgeable Program Promotions Specialist to represent and promote the WorkBC Employment Services in our local community.
This dynamic role involves taking the lead in organizing and attending community events, pop-up booths, and presentations, as well as creating personalized, engaging content for social media. The goal of this position is to increase community awareness of our services and supports and ultimately increase client volumes in our WorkBC Center. You’ll connect directly with job seekers—signing them up for services and providing information about WorkBC programs. This is a public-facing position ideal for someone who thrives on interaction, takes initiative, and enjoys making a positive impact.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, coordinate, and host community pop-up booths, presentations, and outreach events to promote WorkBC services (minimum 1x/week)
- Deliver engaging presentations to community groups, service organizations, and the general public.
- Represent WorkBC in radio interviews, promoting various aspects of our services.
- Attend community events to promote WorkBC services such as markets, festivals, parades, and other places community members gather.
- Create and post personalized social media content that promotes employment services, success stories, and upcoming events
- Travel within the community with a KES-provided laptop to help individuals register for WorkBC services on the spot.
- Build and maintain relationships with community partners and service organizations.
- Poster around the community weekly and ensure WorkBC promotional materials are visible in public locations.
- Media outreach, including participating in radio interviews and contributing to newspaper articles, to raise awareness and promote program initiatives.
- Track outreach efforts and report on engagement metrics and client interactions.
Qualifications:
- Outgoing, friendly, and confident in public speaking and community engagement settings.
- Strong knowledge of WorkBC employment services and the local labor market (training provided if needed).
- Experience in outreach, community development, public relations, or a related field is an asset.
- Strong communication skills—verbal, written, and digital (including social media).
- Comfortable using a laptop and web-based tools for client registration and presentations.
- Able to work independently, manage time well, and adapt to a flexible schedule.
- Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
