Customized Employment Specialist
Description
As a Customized Employment Specialist, you will work with clients who require intensive support to achieve employment. You will facilitate a comprehensive discovery process to understand each individual's needs, strengths, and interests, while gaining a clear understanding of the barriers they face. You will also seek opportunities with employers to create positions that leverage the client's unique abilities and contribute to the employer's needs.

Key responsibilities:
- Meet with clients one on one to assess their employment needs, set goals, and build an action plan.
- Completing the Discovery process which includes observing the client in different settings such as work experiences, within the community, and in the clients home; interviews with support networks; identify interests, strengths and desirable work situations; and create an Employment Profile from the Discovery findings.
- Direct marketing to potential employers; matching unmet employer needs with client need; work with employers to create individualized job descriptions and training plans.
- Provide on-the-job supports to clients when required for client success.
- Supporting clients to develop customized self-employment opportunities when applicable.
- Document and ensure administrative work for client files are up to date.
- Work with local Community Partners to connect clients with supports beyond WorkBC.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure the smooth operation of the centre.
Requirements:
- Experience coaching clients; working with individuals with complex barriers and inclusion groups; building rapport with clients; using de-escalation strategies; working with individuals and building partnerships with employers, community agencies, and other stakeholders
- Degree or diploma in a relevant field (e.g., career or employment development, vocational rehabilitation, social work, psychology, sociology, human services, counselling, education, or human resources management) will be viewed as an asset.
- Familiarity with local job market trends, community resources, and government programs as well as basic job search strategies is an asset, however on the job training is also provided.
- Respect for confidentiality and privacy.
- Strong networking skills.
- Comfortable using computers, including proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Compensation
$29.50 per hour
