Immigration Resource Advisor – Community Prosperity Fund
This position evaluates the needs of immigrants who have entered or wish to enter the workforce, and supports community partner organizations in efforts to increase resources and programs to enhance immigration processes.
 
 
Accountability:     Regional Community and Economic Development Manager (when role is filled)
Location:               Cranbrook/Elk Valley
Duration:                November 18, 2024 – June 1, 2026
Wage:                    $29-32/hr
Hours:                    16.5 hours/week
 
 
Duties:
Research
  • Create an inventory of immigrant services in the Kootenay Rockies region.
  • Host a minimum of one engagement session with newcomers to identify barriers, needed services, and opportunities to create efficiencies.
  • Host a minimum of one engagement session with the business sector to identify barriers, needed services, and opportunities to create efficiencies.
  • Utilize surveys to collect further information from both newcomers and businesses.
  • Identify opportunities for collaboration between stakeholders inside and outside of the region.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of future initiatives that could be explored to support newcomers including a community hub or other forms of centralized services.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of future initiatives that could be explored to support newcomers including regional services.
  • Summarize findings of research and provide to community stakeholders and KES staff.
  • Travel to Cranbrook or Elk Valley to meet with stakeholders quarterly.
 Community Support
  • Work with community partner organizations including Community Futures and College of the Rockies to identify needed services to further support immigrants.
  • Contribute to funding proposals to bring needed services into the region.
  • Contribute to initiatives undertaken by community partners to support newcomers.
 
 
Qualifications & Experience:
 
Key Qualifications & Experience
·        Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field in or Diploma or Certificate similar with strong relevant work experience.
·        A clean criminal record check for the vulnerable sector.
·        Valid BC driver’s license and vehicle.
·        Experience in business and employer services including in-depth awareness of programs that are available including but not limited to immigration.  
·        Experience in media, advertising, writing and marketing preferable.
 
Skills & Abilities:
  • Self-motivated, confident, and able to work well independently.
  • Excellent communication skills – verbal, written and electronic.
  • Excellent customer care skills including cold calling and relationship management.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities including proficiency multi-tasking and prioritizing tasks.
  • A well-developed understanding of the local and regional business community and a good understanding of the labour market.
  • Sensitivity to business and job-seeker confidentiality and ability to adhere to privacy and security regulations and protocols.
  • Strong abilities relating to computer software.
  • The ability to listen, understand and respond to the marketing needs of the organization as identified by program staff is essential.

Compensation

$29.00 - $32.00 per hour
